TBV support impresses in the play-offs

Southend United fans have impressed throughout the season with their very vocal support at both home and away games, and when the play-offs came around, they were a class above the rest. A total of 1,400 shrimpers packed out the away stands at the Pirelli Stadium in the 1st leg of the play-offs, before then arriving in their numbers at Roots Hall, to create one of the best atmospheres of the season.

Armed with almost 200 streamers and 300 balloons, The Blue Voice done their absolute best to make sure that their support in the 2nd leg was a class above the rest, in a tremendous effort to help the team get back into the tie again following on from a 1-0 defeat in the 1st leg. Southend took a 2-1 lead thanks to a fantastic piece of skill by Ryan Leonard to counter an early Burton goal, and a fantastic cross and header from Anthony Straker which lifted the roof off Roots Hall, but late into the 2nd half, Southend unfortunately conceded an equaliser leaving the score on the day at 2-2 (2-3 on aggregate).

The stand out point from the play-offs was the fans, who many believed to be the 12th man of Southend United during the 2nd leg especially. The fans were absolutely superb, and vocal throughout the game, whether we were leading or trailing in the game itself. The fans of Southend United did their team proud with the level of support they showed during that game.

Southend United now prepare themselves for a 5th season in League Two, having spent 4 seasons trying to escape from the Football League's bottom division, and they need your
support more than ever. The Blue Voice are committed to ensuring that the support from our fans at both home and away games is the best that it can be, but we can't do it alone. At every single game, not only do we bring our voices, but we also bring flags, streamers, balloons and much more, in an attempt to improve the atmosphere. These items all come at the expense of the die-hard fans who spend every single weekend travelling up and down the country supporting the team.

What The Blue Voice are aiming to do for the 2014-15 season is build upon the fantastic support that the club has had over the last 12 months, and make it even better. We want to purchase more items such as streamers, flags, balloons etc for home and away games, but we need your help in doing this.
